EcoGene provides DNA services and support to the Centre for Conservation Medicine at Auckland Zoo, the Department of Conservation’s centralised species recovery programmes, the Wildlife Enforcement Group, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF), universities, and regional councils. In addition, EcoGene supports clients in Australia and the Pacific.
Landcare Research launched EcoGene in 2008 to ensure a responsive service to client requests. Although EcoGene is separate from Landcare Research’s ecological genetics research laboratory, EcoGene is able to offer the range of tests developed in the laboratory to clients.
